Plant Operations Manager
Job description
Position Summary
The Operations Manager is directly responsible for the personnel and activities of the facility operations
team and is accountable for maintaining continued operation of the facility in compliance with established
safety regulations and procedures, federal and state environmental regulations, production schedules,
output requirements and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities (role includes but is not limited to)
▪ Manages the activities of the facility's operations team through direct supervision of operation
staff, ensuring the safe and effective execution of their job responsibilities.
▪ Ensures that the plant's EH&S program is followed and maintained
▪ Directs facility operations and coordinates and schedules maintenance activities.
▪ Maintains systems for tracking plant conditions and performance, evaluating the effectiveness of
operating and maintenance practices, identifying problem areas and areas for potential
improvements, and measuring plant performance against financial, contractual and regulatory
goals.
▪ Participates in budget development, manages and controls operations expenditures, maintaining
an active cost reduction program directed toward improved plant profitability.
▪ Oversees the implementation of process improvement projects
▪ Participates in preparation of reports and presentations, and in planning and directing regularly
scheduled staff meetings.
▪ Assures compliance with all contractual obligations, government regulations, environmental
standards and all plant safety procedures and programs.
▪ Drive quality into all we do to ensure customer satisfaction and prevent repeat issues
▪ Responsible for meeting on time delivery and productivity goals to ensure customer satisfaction
▪ Participate in developing and executing strategic initiatives within Operations
▪ Follows up and checks on all job activities throughout the shift to ensure all work assignments are
completed correctly and as requested.
▪ Advises and helps complete work.
▪ Ensures that work accidents or incidents involving crew members resulting in injury to persons or
damage to property are reported.
▪ Assists in the selection of human resources, assuring that positions are staffed with qualified
individuals, that all personnel are adequately trained, that each individual's performance is
assessed on a regular basis, that corrective action procedures are followed when appropriate.
Qualifications
* A minimum of 10 years of plant management level experience in manufacturing and operations.
* Must understand the principles of operation, function and construction of the anaerobic digestion
plant
* Must be knowledgeable and have direct experience leading teams associated with plant, start-up,
commissioning, and operations.
* Able to identify problems and shortcomings with existing systems and develop solutions for
implementation
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite applications
* Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to lead and mentor others
* Results driven, analytical, self-motivated and detail oriented
* Strong and proactive communication skills both (verbally and written); English fluency required;
alternate languages desired
Education/Certification:
▪ Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
