Associate Hydrogeologist or Geologist - PFAs Specialism
Job description
This Senior/Associate position requires 15 to 20+ years of experience in environmental consulting (depending on academic degree). This position also requires a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related discipline. A Master of Science degree is preferred. The applicant is preferred to have 5 years of recent professional experience in Washington, and an L.G. or L.H.G. license is preferred. Licensing in other Western states is desirable to support the needs of the company in Oregon, California, and Alaska.
The applicant should have experience with assessment of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) releases and evaluation of potential remedial alternatives for these contaminants. Experience with statistical data analyses and visualization techniques is preferred. Position also requires excellent communications skills and ability to interact with clients, legal counsel, regulators, and other potential stakeholders.
Developed and executed characterization program for releases of PFAS to soil and groundwater. Use characterization data to evaluate fate and transport of releases to water supply wells. Evaluated sources using principal component analysis and other statistical techniques in conjunction with evaluation of empirical data to characterize relative impacts and potential efficacy of remedial actions. Ability to complete data visualization using statistical software. Apply modeling skills to data.
In addition, applicant must support a broad range of projects that reflect the companies core practices in contaminated site remediation, site investigation and remediation, litigation support, and regulatory negotiation. An understanding of environmental regulations at the state, local, and federal level (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, MTCA) is required.
The applicant should have extensive experience in developing and directing remedial investigation and feasibility study field programs. Applicant must also have excellent technical writing skills with regard to authoring and reviewing proposals, project work plans, reports, and other technical documents. Applicant should also have leadership characteristics and the ability to lead project teams and mentor junior staff. In addition, the applicant should demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols. A valid driver's license is required.
