Job description


Essential functions\duties:

  • Lead commissioning of utility scale wind, solar, hydro and geothermal projects ensuring compliance with the program and the safety procedures and quality standards required.
  • Preparation of the detailed plans of assembly and commissioning, according to the existing basic plan of the project.
  • Prepares detailed schedule of the commissioning and start-up activities according to the project schedule.
  • Prepare and document commissioning and energization procedures.
  • Management of contracts for specialist assistance at testing.
  • Technical coordination within the team made from Owner and contractors personnel.
  • Visual inspection and functional testing of any equipment and assembled system prior to the commissioning tests.
  • Filling in the Punch List with the suppliers and drawing up a plan for resolving the non-compliances.
  • Managing the list of the required documentation for what may regard the commissioning (as built and final), for handover to the Operation and Maintenance Units and for the official application, in order to credit the production incentives.
  • Assuring that all activities will be in compliance with the current legislation, permissions and any other information provided in written format to the Supplier.
  • Prepare detailed programs of both the installation/assembly and the commissioning according to the basic program of the project.
  • Supervise the work and coordinate the project team (including companies involved in the project assembly).
  • Supervise the tests relating to the commissioning of High, Medium and Low voltage equipment/electrical systems according to the regulations of generators, power transformers, substations, low and medium voltage motors, control panels and distribution, power electronics equipment (rectifiers and inverters) and batteries connected to it, calibration of protection relays, SCADA, and general machinery of the plant.
  • Commissioning activities reporting.
  • Taking care of the technical or engineering issues with vendors and contractors during the commissioning.
  • Implementing Quality Control Plan on site, attending to the test execution when needed, and checking test reports and field data to assure quality requirement are being met.
  • Support implementation of innovation and digitization initiatives that increase efficiency and safety in construction activities, staying current with emerging technologies.
  • Test, pilot, implement and provide feedback on OWNER initiatives.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 100% of time, including temporary assignment to projects and relocation between projects with short notice.

  • Installation/Assembly and Commissioning schedule
  • Commissioning reports

Main Accountability:

  • Managing pre-commissioning and commissioning team activities
  • Supervising the testing activities of substations, photovoltaic and wind power plants.
  • Troubleshooting
  • Support to the site construction team during construction and O&M during operation


  • Electro-technical Engineering degree (MSc) or Technical qualification or equivalent qualifications
  • 5+ years in the management and supervision of mechanical/electrical construction/commissioning of the systems of production or similar fields (mechanical, paper-textile, chemical, petrochemical, energy, etc.)
  • Experience in leading and managing commissioning/start-up teams
  • Knowledge of bench test instruments and test methodologies (Testing methods and instrumentation).
  • Knowledge of machineries, equipment and appliances used within the commissioning sector.
  • Good knowledge of electrical safety standards and construction safety and environmental management.
  • Complete knowledge of the logic of electrical equipment protection (protection logic of electrical machinery) and related instrumentation.
  • Ability to write up and manage the Start-Up procedures and maintenance manuals.
  • Ability to make troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of legislation relating to the management of contracts and supplies.
  • Taking all required safety measures related to the provision of specific services as per present agreement.
  • Knowledge of methods for measuring work progress.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, Power Point and MS-Project.
  • Problem solving. Teamwork. Organization and planning. Analysis and control ability. Safety and environmental oriented.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments in adverse and extreme weather conditions and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to utilize tablet and smartphone for daily work activities and creation of reports in company software and ability to apply technology innovations into daily construction activities.
  • Current drivers' license required.
